Biography, Career, and more

Fave, born Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, is a talented Nigerian singer-songwriter who rose to prominence during the COVID-19 lockdown after posting several minute-long freestyle videos on Twitter. As the only daughter and middle child of a family of five, her musical journey began in the church at just 6 years old. Fave, a law student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, released her first official single "M.O.M.M.S" (Me or Mask My Sins) at the age of 19.

Her breakthrough came in 2019 after her verse on a Jinmi Abdul-produced beat went viral on Twitter. She gained widespread recognition with her debut single "N.B.U" (Nobody but U), which debuted at number 64 on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top 100 chart on April 17, 2020. Later, in November 2021, she signed a licensing deal with Mr Eazi's emPawa Africa.

In 2021, Fave released her most successful single to date, "Baby Riddim", under emPawa Africa. The track topped the TurnTable chart, becoming only the second song by a female lead artist to achieve this in Nigeria. It was also the number one Global Shazam Afrobeats record for six consecutive weeks.

On January 20, 2022, she dropped her debut EP titled Riddim 5, featuring hits like Obsessed, S.M.K, Kilotufe, Mr. Man, and Baby Riddim. The EP became the first project of 2022 to reach number 1 on Apple Music’s Top Albums chart in Nigeria.

Her collaborations include features on Olamide’s 2021 album UY Scuti with the tracks "Want" and "Pon Pon", Simi’s single "Loyal" in 2022, and Davido’s 2023 album Timeless where she featured on the track "Kante", delivering a standout chorus.

Musical Style

Fave describes herself as a "pop girl," though her sound traverses various genres including Afro-pop, R&B, dancehall, and Afrobeats. Her songwriting is known for its poetic nature, rich emotional storytelling, and rhythmic melodies layered over groovy beats and high-tempo drums. Vulnerability, honesty, and soul define her music style.
