David Ekenedirichukwu Daniels, popularly known as David Ekene, is a Nigerian gospel singer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur born on November 1, 1984, in Kano State, Nigeria. He hails from Enugu State and is widely known for his inspirational music and humanitarian work.

Education

In 2010, David Ekene completed his theological studies at the Theological Seminary of Northern Nigeria in Kano. He later attended the University of Abuja, where he furthered his education.

Early Life & Background

David Ekene’s journey is a testament to perseverance and faith. Raised in a humble family, he lost his father at a young age, leaving his mother to care for him and his four siblings. Despite facing financial hardships, he developed a strong sense of responsibility early in life, which shaped his character and determination.

His passion for music began in childhood. He joined the Evangel Kids Choir at his local church, eventually progressing to the adult choir where he served as both a vocalist and instrumentalist. Driven by his deep love for gospel music, he later founded a children’s music group known as the Covenant Singers.

Career

David Ekene rose to prominence with the release of his breakthrough single “Greater Tomorrow” in 2014. The uplifting song quickly became an anthem across Africa, inspiring hope and faith in listeners and garnering widespread acclaim. The song has since amassed over 14 million views on YouTube, earning him international recognition.

Philanthropy
